She attended West Texas State University in Canyon. Vicki married Ronald Hayes on June 1, 1970 in Amarillo. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1974. She worked for Pampa Independent School District for 30 years and was school secretary at Austin Elementary School at the time of her death.
