SERVICES: Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Fairview Cemetery with John Curry officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Steele was born on Sept. 1, 1914 in Altus, Oklahoma. She graduated from Altus High School and received a B. A. degree from the University of Oklahoma. She married Aubrey L. Steele on Dec. 25, 1936 in Altus. He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2004. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1938 where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Steele was a founding board member of Lovett Memorial Library, and she served on the board for many years. She was the first reader for the "Children's Story Hour" which was held at the library for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of Twentieth Century Forum.SURVIVORS: Son: Richard Steele and wife Jane of Pampa; daughter: Linda Steele Perry of Castroville; 3 grandchildren: Melissa Lomax and husband Kirk of San Antonio, Ellen Wedemeyer and husband Drew of Fort Worth, and Matt Perry and wife Christa of Pampa; and by 5 great grandchildren.
