Dale Moreland, associate pastor of The Church at Quail Creek in Amarillo, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Sam was born on Sept. 10, 1938 in Pampa and was a 1957 graduate of Pampa High School where he played basketball for Clifton McNeely. He held the Harvester free throw record and was a McDonald's High School All-American for 2 years. He attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene where he played on a basketball scholarship. Sam married Brenda Brown Simmons on Sept. 30, 1962 in Pampa. He was a lifelong Gray and Roberts County farmer, rancher, cattleman, and horseman who loved team penning and ranch sorting. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he worked with youth and college students. He was a former director of the Top O' Texas Rodeo Association and a former Roberts County commissioner. Sam was a loving husband, father, and friend.SURVIVORS: Wife: Brenda Condo of the home; 3 sons: Terry Simmons and wife Catherine of Floydada, Ray Condo of Austin, and Brad Condo of Pampa; 2 sisters: Doris Mims and husband Ray of Vernon and Mary Winton and husband Gib of Pampa; 2 grandsons: Kyle Simmons and Kevin Simmons, both of Hobbs, NM; and by several nieces and nephews.
