SERVICES: 9:30 AM Friday, July 25, 2008, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Glen Walton, minister of the Bell Street Church of Christ of Amarillo, officiating.BURIAL: Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Center Point Cemetery near Saint Jo, with Nona's cousin, Glenn McDonald of Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Karbo was born January 16, 1918 in Saint Jo, to Prescott and Nora Armstrong. She grew up in Montague County and graduated from Duncan High School in Duncan, Oklahoma in 1936. After graduation, Nona Lee moved back to Montague County. She later moved to Wichita Falls where she met her husband, Arnold Karbo, while working at Sheppard Air Force Base. They were married on June 4, 1944 in Wichita Falls. After the war was over, Nona Lee and Arnold moved to Russell, Minnesota for 4 years where they farmed and ran a hardware store. In 1950, Arnold was called back into the service and returned to Wichita Falls. In May of 1953, they moved to Pampa, and Nona lived there until 2006 when she moved to Amarillo. She was a member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Russell, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Prescott and Nora Armstrong; her husband Arnold Karbo on July 6, 1997; and 3 brothers: Drue Armstrong, Melvin Armstrong and Foy Armstrong.SURVIVORS: 3 sons: Ole Karbo and wife Nancy of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, Howard Karbo of Round Rock, and Kent Karbo and wife Jo of Pampa; 4 grandsons: Chris Karbo of Los Angeles, California, Jonathan Karbo of Madison, Wisconsin, Landon Karbo and Logan Karbo, both of Pampa; 3 sisters: Maxine Hendrich and Geneva Webb, both of Fort Worth, and June Witcher of Amarillo; 3 sisters-in-law: Mavis Karbo of Northfield, Minnesota, Phyllis Karbo of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Frances Armstrong of Wichita Falls; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.The pallbearers are going to be her four grandsons and nephews.
