SERVICES: 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the Carpenter's Church, with Rev. Fred Palmer, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy U. S. Army personnel, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Mann was born September 2, 1933 in Cedar Creek. He had been a lifelong resident of Pampa. He married Edith Joann Swaney on October 1, 1954 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2006. Fred was a retired veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Gold Panners Association of America, and the NRA. He was a great father and grandfather and will be missed by family and friends. Fred enjoyed gold panning, camping and was a gun enthusiast. SURVIVORS: 1 daughter: Linda Shouse and husband Chris of Pampa; 1 son: Harold Mann and wife Trudy of Bulverde; mother: Helen Mann of San Angelo; 2 brothers: James Mann of Bee Cave, and Jerry Mann of Kingsland; 1 sister: Margie Welch of San Angelo; 5 grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Mann, Sr., in 1976, a son, Freddy Mann in 1984, a brother, L. H. Mann, and a sister, Doris Ireland.
