Faye Byrd Nichols

SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, Texas, with Rev. Linda Kelly, rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Pampa, and Rev. Suzie Wilkinson of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Nichols was born June 29, 1926 in Shamrock, Texas, to Walter Redden Byrd and Velda Faye Bumpers Byrd. She had been a resident of Pampa from 1953 until April of 2007 when she moved to Austin. Faye married Leslie Ralph "Jack" Nichols on October 28, 1945. They had been married for 49 years when Jack passed away on September 15, 1994. On September 5, 2000, Faye married Jack's brother, Dr. Theo Nichols of Abilene. They remained married until Theo's death on May 7, 2007. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a very caring friend. As her sons grew, Faye was a very active parent member of the Pampa High School Band Boosters and the Boy Scouts. She loved her cabin in Eagles Nest, New Mexico and shared many good times with family and friends there. Faye was an active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Pampa and served as an Altar Guild member. She was also a very active volunteer with Good Samaritan Christian Services, Pampa Meals on Wheels and Friends of the Library.SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Don Nichols and wife Patty of Austin, Texas, and Bill Nichols and wife Virginia of Cross Roads, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Eric and Jamie Nichols of Chandler, Arizona, Matthew Nichols of Athens, Texas, Dustin McConnell of Denton, Texas, and Cory McConnell of Lewisville, Texas.
