He had been a resident of Pampa since 1968. He married Helen Gramling on July 15, 1939 in Robert Lee, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2000. Steve had been self employed in farming and ranching in Tulia until 1965. He then worked in pipeline construction all over the United States for approximately 20 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and did so until he was 90 years old. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors. Steve enjoyed playing the fiddle at the nursing homes and the Schneider House.SURVIVORS: 3 daughters: Nina Kemph and Martha Sluder, both of Pampa, and Karen DeVoll of Tampa, Florida; 3 sons: Roland DeVoll of Palmdale, California, Eddie DeVoll of Sunnyvale, and Bill Rice DeVoll of Pampa; 1 sister: Zulla Taylor of Hobbs, New Mexico; 1 brother: Jody DeVoll of Lovington, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
