SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at White Deer Cemetery with Rev. Ken Carter, pastor of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Powers was born Aug. 31, 1930 in White Deer where he had been a lifelong resident and attended White Deer schools. He farmed in Carson County for about 20 years and worked as a pumper for Caprock Engineering in Pampa until retiring in 2000. He attended and supported City Church in Amarillo. Tom was an avid collector and trader of Indian artifacts, sports memorabilia, and antiques. He was a staunch supporter of the White Deer community and helped to build the cross at Groom.SURVIVORS: 1 daughter: Barbara Ann Thomas and husband Steve of Pampa; 1 son: Rick Powers and wife Linda of Brownwood; 1 sister: Penny Zavala of El Paso; 3 grandchildren: Bart Thomas and wife Lesa of Amarillo, Zach Thomas and wife Maritza of Dallas, and Katina Taylor and husband Jason of Miami, FL; 7 great grandchildren: Taylor, Ty, and Trey Thomas, and Brooklyn Lepard, all of Amarillo, and Isaiah, Mason, and Zoe Grace Taylor, all of Miami, FL; and by 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
