He was reared in Miami where he graduated from Miami High School. Rene married Tonya DeArman on May 1, 2004 in Pampa. SURVIVORS: Wife: Tonya Nieto of Pampa; 1 son: Maddox Nieto of Pampa; 2 stepsons: Richard Leal and Alex Romero, both of Pampa; mother and stepfather: Margaret and Oscar Vargas of Cactus; father: Ruben Nieto of Dimmitt; sister: Mary Gallegos of Aurora, Colorado; brother: Sergio Ortiz of Dumas.
