SERVICES: Vigil service will be at 6:00 PM Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Miezcyslaw Przepiora, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Martinez was born July 21, 1943 in Canadian. He was raised in White Deer where he graduated from White Deer High School in 1962. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1965. Vince served at Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, where he met Catherine Wessner in 1966. They were married on December 29, 1967 in Pittsburgh, California. He returned to White Deer in January of 1968. Vince served several years in the Texas National Guard and completed his 20 years of military service with the U. S. Navy Reserves. He worked for Northern Natural Gas/Enron for 23 years. He was a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Clements Unit in Amarillo, retiring in 2004. Vince was a member of the White Deer Young Men's Club, White Deer Volunteer Fire Department, White Deer Lions Club, Catholic Life Insurance Branch 56, and "Keep White Deer Beautiful". He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Church Council and Sacred Heart Cemetery committee. Vince's favorite hobby was fishing.SURVIVORS: Wife: Catherine Martinez of the home; a son: Thomas Martinez and wife Donna of Keller; a daughter: Kathleen Lindsey of Amarillo; his mother: Micaela Martinez of Plainview; 3 brothers: Jody Martinez and wife Gloria of Austin, Laurence Martinez and wife Mary of Amarillo, and Jesse Martinez and wife Margaret Ann of White Deer; 3 sisters: Delfina Vigil and husband Sonny of White Deer, Carolina Castro and husband Juan of Plainview, and Vicki Velez and husband Rudy of Pampa; 2 grandsons: Kaison Lindsey of Amarillo and Christian Martinez of Keller; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vince was preceded in death by his father, Jose Silva Martinez, and a brother, Jaime Martinez.MEMORIALS: White Deer Senior Citizens Center, 315 S. Main, White Deer, Texas 79097.
