SERVICES: 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Skellytown with Rev. Fines Marchman, pastor, and Rev. Jim Fox, chaplain of Vista Care Hospice of Amarillo, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Mathews was born March 1, 1922 in Seneca, Missouri. He married Arlene Burnett on June 8, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. He had been a resident of Skellytown since 1947, moving to Amarillo two years ago. Paul worked for Skelly/Getty Oil for 36 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II where he earned a Bronze Star. Paul was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Skellytown for many years. He was a charter member and committee member of Skel-Tex Credit Union.SURVIVORS: Wife: Arlene B. Mathews of the home; 3 daughters: Karen Horner and husband Jimmie, Nancy Fox and husband Jimmy, and Denise Smyth and husband Blaine, all of Amarillo; 2 sisters: Virginia Moudy of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Norma Jean Pryor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Merle W. Mathews of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother-in-law: Bobby Lavoe Burnett of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.MEMORIALS: BSA Hospice, P.O.
