She married Geral Garrison on October 9, 1944 in Hall County, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1985. Velma had been a resident of Pampa since 1947. She was a very active member of Highland Baptist Church, and she enjoyed gardening.SURVIVORS: 1 son: Jerry Garrison and wife Connie of Alva, Oklahoma; 2 daughters: Donna Sweet and husband Ron of Sugarland, Texas, and Judy Kidwell and husband Doug of Pampa, Texas; 5 grandsons: Jason Sweet of Bedford, Texas, Shane Sweet of League City, Texas, Cory Garrison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Grant Garrison of Alva, Oklahoma, and Ty Kidwell of Gruver, Texas; 2 great-grandsons: Deven Sweet of Bedford, Texas and Braize Seitz of Amarillo, Texas; 1 great-granddaughter: Anjali Sweet of Bedford, Texas; 3 brothers: Wesley Wright of Detroit, Texas, William Wright of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sam Wright of Deport, Texas; 1 sister: Wanda Howerton of Detroit, Texas; 1 aunt: Helene Ballew of Memphis, Texas.
