She came to Pampa in 1950 from Borger. She married Roy Lee Steele on March 13, 1931 in Wilson, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1999. Mrs. Steele was a member of the Church of Christ since the age of 15 and had been a member of the Wells St. Church of Christ since 1950. She loved to quilt, and she made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also loved to cook and was especially known for her peach cobblers and candied sweet potatoes.SURVIVORS: 2 daughters: Maxcine Chase and Laverne Fulton, both of Pampa; 1 son: Dwane Steele of LaPorte; 30 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Melvin Steele and David Lee Steele, and by a daughter, Imogene Angel.MEMORIALS: May be made to a favorite charity.
