SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Helfer was born October 25, 1935 in East Saint Louis, Illinois. He married Maurine Lovelady in March of 1979 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force for 6 years, stationed in Amarillo. Jim was employed by Dunlap Industrial for many years, retiring in 2003. He loved to do wood working.SURVIVORS: Wife: Maurine Helfer of the home; 4 sons: Jimmy Helfer and wife Freida, Keith Helfer, Shannon Johnson and wife Elaine, all of Pampa, and Shane Johnson and wife Anna of Lefors; 5 daughters: Texann Dietz of Cartwright, Oklahoma; Tracy Evans and husband Glenn of Tennessee, Shawn Heckathorn and husband Steve of Clovis, New Mexico, Mecca McBee and husband Darren of Lefors, and Michelle Irwin and husband Casey of Amarillo; 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.MEMORIALS: Lefors Fire Department 107 N.
