SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2008, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. C. W. Parker, Odyssey Hospice chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Sanders was born July 12, 1915 in Childress County, Texas. She married William V. Sanders on October 16, 1937 in Union, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1967. Opal was a member of the Eastern Star in St. Louis, Missouri. She and Verne moved from St. Louis to San Bernardino, California, where they lived for the next 35 years. She owned a lady's dress shop, retiring in 1985. Opal was a pilot and owned her own plane. She flew in the Powder Puff Derby, a cross country race, in 1960 and 1961. She returned to Texas in 1999 where she was a member of the First Christian Church. SURVIVORS: 1 sister: Francis Hall of Pampa; 3 nephews: Charles Hall and wife Charlotte, Kenneth Hall and wife Carolyn, all of Pampa, and James Hall and wife Brenda of Keller; 9 great nieces and nephews, and 22 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Beatrice Bailey and Nellie Schock.
