He married Katie Smith on June 1, 1957 in Clovis, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2004. He had been a longtime resident of Pampa, moving to Clarendon in 1997, and then living in Boerne for the past year. He was a member of the Agape Christian Church in Clarendon and the Pampa Optimist Club in Pampa. He was a drill instructor, and a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
