Smith, Arkansas. She was reared in Phillips, Texas where she graduated from Phillips High School. She married Don Carpenter on September 26, 1953 in Skellytown. She worked for the Gray County Tax Assessor for 15 years and was employed by Security Federal Savings & Loan for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Pampa Duplicate Bridge Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, duplicate bridge friends and sorority friends.SURVIVORS: Husband: Don Carpenter of the home; 2 daughters: Donna Porter & husband Larry of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Cathey Bell & husband Bret of Pampa; 2 sons: Rick Carpenter & wife Connie of Lovington, New Mexico, and Randy Carpenter & wife Luanne of Bluffdale, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Gordon B.
