Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Conner was born February 26, 1921 in Floydada to Myrtle and Albert Earl Cowger. At an early age, she and her family moved to Jacksboro. She married James B. "Jim" Conner on December 6, 1939 in Wizard Wells. They moved to Pampa in 1943 where Jim joined the Pampa Police Department as a patrolman, later becoming Chief of Police. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1975. She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Camryn Riley Dowell.Willene worked at Heard-Jones Health Mart for 28 years, retiring in 1989. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church since 1952, where she was involved in such activities as Senior Adult Choir, WMU, Sunday School and church fellowship trips. She moved to Amarillo in November of 2001 where she resided at the Plemmons Court Apartments and The Arbors.Willene left a legacy of loving God, her church, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took such pleasure and joy in getting to know and love her six great-grandchildren. Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staffs of BSA Hospice and The Arbors Nursing Home for their wonderful care and service.SURVIVORS: A daughter: Janna Dowell of Abilene; a son: Jim Conner & wife Martha Jo of Amarillo; three grandchildren: Krista Darnall of Abilene, Chad Dowell & wife Shannon of Schertz, and Kim Phillips & husband Kevin of Amarillo; six great-grandchildren: Adam Darnall, Nathan Darnall, Paige Dowell, Taylor Dowell, Conner Phillips and Cayden Phillips; a sister, Linda Hesteande & husband Ray of Jacksboro; two step-sisters, Barbara Ivey of Graham and Ima Jean Suter of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.MEMORIALS: Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 513 E.
