SERVICES: 10:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2007, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Borger, officiating.BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Smith was born June 19, 1930 in Alanreed. He attended Pampa High School until he was 15 years old and then went to work for Montgomery Ward to help support his widowed mother. He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1950 during the Korean Conflict, and received a hardship discharge because his mother was sick and he was the only son. He married Velda Jean Renfroe in 1960 in Skellytown, and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2001. He moved to Plainview in 1963 and opened a "One Hour Martinizing" dry cleaning service that he ran successfully for 10 years. He worked for Larson's Inc. as a machine inspector. He returned to Pampa in 1979 to work for Cabot-IRI, and to help his recently widowed sister Artie Lee Carpenter. He retired from Titan Specialties in 1991 and became a cattle rancher in Lefors. He moved to El Paso 3 years ago to live with his daughter Susan because of fading health. SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Susan Levick of El Paso and Tracie Lynn Clark of Oklahoma; 1 Son: Robert Del Smith of Borger; 5 Grandchildren: Haley Levick, Brian Levick and John Levick, all of El Paso, and Tim Ferris and Zach Ferris, both of Amarillo; and 1 Great-Grandchild, Devon Ernesto Reyes of El Paso.
