SERVICES: Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Judge Cain was born October 8, 1921 in San Marcos to E. M. & Betty Howell Cain. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington where he was elected Colonel of the 1941 graduating class. He enrolled at the University of Texas in 1941 and graduated in 1944. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1946 and then earned a law degree from the University of Texas. Working as an attorney in Fort Worth, Cain decided to re-enlist and served during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Pampa and was in private practice. He married Betty Anne Culberson on June 14, 1952. Cain served as Gray County attorney from 1955-1968 and County judge from 1971-1977. He was appointed district judge of the 223rd Judicial District from 1977-1991. He was a retired state judicial judge. Throughout the years, Cain was involved in many civic organizations. He was president of the Adobe Walls Council of the Boy Scouts from 1957-1959, earning the Silver Beaver Award in 1958; the Board of Directors of the Pampa United Fund from 1956-1960; member of the American Bar Association, Texas Bar Association and Gray County Bar Association (president in 1968); Pampa Chamber of Commerce 1959-1960; Phi Alpha Delta; Masons; Pampa Rotary Club (president 1958-1959). He was a member of the First Baptist Church from 1951 until 2007. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home. Four children; David Cain & wife Sally of Dallas, Carolyn Dale Husen of Lubbock, Don E. Cain, Jr. & wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Randy Cain & wife Kathy of Austin. Ten grandchildren; David Cain II., Jennifer Cain, Michael Cain, Doug Husen, Zachary Husen, Corrie Zabella, Kayla Cain, Abigail Cain, Roger Cain and Eliza Cain. Four great-grandchildren; Hayden Husen, Alexandria Husen, Madeline Zabella and Ansley Husen. One Brother; Dan Cain & wife Marion of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Pat Cain, and two sisters Nona Smith and Frances Cravens. The family suggests memorials to the Pampa Senior Citizens, 500 W.
