SERVICES: Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Fairview Cemetery with Jim Wart, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Childers was born July 26, 1924 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Don's father, Albert Leonard Childers, moved the family to the Texas Panhandle during the Texas Panhandle oil boom. As a youngster, Don was known for the skill of "busting broncs" on the Canadian River. He attended Pampa schools and graduated from Pampa High School. As a young man, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He married Alexia Kathleen Brown on Aug. 15, 1943 in Pampa. Following his military service, he became a member of the Pampa business community where he owned and operated Don's TV Repair Service. He was a member and elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast that included fishing, camping, and motorcycle trail bike riding. Mr. Childers also loved music and was a self-taught musician, playing the steel guitar, electric guitar, and fiddle. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Alexia preceded him in death on July 13, 2004.
