Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Smith was born on May 31, 1917 in Rockwall, Texas where she graduated as high school salutatorian. She married Horace Wade Smith on Oct. 2, 1942 in Greenville, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was a resident of Tyler for many years where she was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church. She had been a resident of the Houston area for the past 10 years and had lived in Sugar Land for the past six years. Mrs. Smith was an expert quilter and avid gardener and received many awards at flower shows. She especially enjoyed raising azaleas and camellias. She was a terrific cook, she loved to travel extensively, and she loved to fish. She loved her family very much.SURVIVORS: a daughter: Susan Finney and husband Bob of Pampa; a brother, Joe C. "Bill" Lofland and wife Bonnie of Rockwall; 4 grandchildren: Julianna White and husband Calvin of Richmond, TX; Wade Smith and wife October of Rosenburg, TX; Matt Finney of Plano; and Todd Finney and wife Audra of Frisco; and 5 great grandchildren: Stephen White and Suzanne White, both of Richmond; Sydney Smith and Stacey Smith, both of Rosenburg; and Marcus Finney of Frisco; daughter-in-law: Edith Lynn Smith of Rosenburg.
