He was raised in Quincy, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Jennings High School in Jennings, Missouri. He attended Washington University in St. Louis and received a B. S. degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. He married Reed Sanders Carr on November 20, 1959 in Pampa. He was employed by Schlumberger and Frontier Perforators. He was a founder, co-owner and president of Titan Specialties, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a ham radio operator for over 50 years. He was a private pilot and he enjoyed traveling, music, art and gardening. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. SURVIVORS: Wife: Reed Echols of the home. 4 Sons: Robert B. Echols, Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Steven Echols of Honolulu, Hawaii, John Carr of McLean, and Michael Carr of Hereford. 1 Daughter: Susan Carr Stiggins of Houston. 1 Brother: James Echols of Richmond, Virginia. 12 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren.
