She married Ralph Devenport in 1946 in Clarendon. He preceded her in death in 1979. She worked at Pampa Nursing Center and Coronado Healthcare Center as a certified nurse's aide, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle in Pampa. She formerly worked as an elementary school teacher in South Dakota. She loved to garden, read, and enjoyed watching the cooking channel.SURVIVORS: Daughter: Winnie Jeter of Pampa; 1 sister: Kay Bowles of Dallas; 1 grandson: James Jeter and wife Alicia of Pampa; 1 granddaughter: Carla Jeter-Smith of Pampa; 7 great grandchildren: Heather Balay, Brittany Balay, Daniel Smith, Layce Smith, Julie Alonzo and husband Jimmy, Kayla Jeter and Allyson Jeter, all of Pampa; 1 great great grandchild: Madison Alonzo of Pampa; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Winnie Bowles, a daughter, Mona Devenport, and a brother, W. C. Bowles.MEMORIALS: to a favorite charity.
