SERVICES: 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Ty Jones, minister of the Amarillo Cowboy Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Mears was born May 10, 1947 in Bryan, Texas and was a 1965 graduate of Midland High School in Midland. He came to Pampa in 1994 from Miami. He married Susie Mabry on April 30, 2005 in Pampa. He worked for Cabot Machinery, IRI, and National Oilwell for the past 32 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He attended the Amarillo Cowboy Church. Mr. Mears was a very active with the Pampa High School Rodeo Club for several years. He was preceded in death by his father, John Carter Mears.SURVIVORS: Wife: Susie Mears of the home; 1 daughter: Jamie Mears of Pampa; 1 son: Joseph Mears of Pampa; 1 stepdaughter: Katie Hennig of Pampa; 1 stepson: Zach Mabry of Pampa; his stepmother: Marion Mears of Pampa; 1 sister: Nancy Skeen of Amarillo; 4 brothers: Jackie Mears and Ronnie Mears, both of Pampa, Bobby Mears of Lubbock, and John Martin Mears of Gunnison, CO; 1 stepsister: Debbie Griffin of Fritch; 2 stepbrothers: Mark Trevathan and Tim Trevathan, both of Pampa; 3 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren.MEMORIALS: Pampa High School Rodeo Club, c/o Robert Douglas, 11646 County Road D, Pampa, TX 79065.
