BURIAL: Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. O'Loughlin was born August 26, 1946 to Miles & Inez O'Loughlin. He was reared in Miami and graduated from Miami High School in 1964. Despite being involved in a car accident and breaking his back in February of 1964, he graduated in May of that year.Miles graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois in 1970 with a BA degree in English. In December of 1970, his son Dennis was born. While teaching English at the University of Texas, he was awarded an MA degree in English and then a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas. In 1978, Miles became General Counsel for West Texas State University in Canyon.In August of 1980, Miles and Leslie Wilson were married in White Deer. In 1981, Miles moved to Fort Worth to work for a law firm. He returned to Amarillo in 1983 to become an independent oil producer. In 1989, Miles became the co-owner and manager of WO Operating Company in Pampa.Miles was the chairman of the Texas Rehabililtation Commission for many years. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Lambda and the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association. Miles was also a partner in Pampans for Progress, and co-owner of the AmericInn which will be opening in March in Pampa. Miles was a great philanthropist. He supported the United Way, Clarendon College Pampa Branch, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Boy Scouts, University of Texas and University of Illinois scholarship programs, Special Olympics, the performing arts and countless other organizations. Miles was the watch dog for the little guy. Miles gave legal advice freely to countless people. He was an amazing man who overcame great obstacles to be successful and an inspiration to many. In-Laws: Bob & Billie Wilson of Wichita Falls and Betty Wilson of Amarillo.
