David Kelly, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Groom Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Wade was born October 24, 1911 in Talpa, Texas, to Rev. Walter Jordan Wade and Beulah Emmaline Ward Wade. The family lived in several small towns in Coleman County before moving to Groom in 1927 when they bought the Groom News. Max started setting type and working in the family office when he was twelve.He graduated from Groom High School in 1928. He married Helen Virginia Vassey of Bovina, Texas, on July 10, 1932. She preceded him in death on December 18, 1998. They published the Groom News until 1978, and during that time, Max worked in print shops in Pampa, Borger and Amarillo. He served as the Carson County J.P. from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Max was a World War II veteran. He was inducted into the Army in March of 1944. After various training, he was sent to Europe where he served with the 9th Armored Division ? 27th Armored Infantry Battalion, as a bazooka specialist. He was part of the Remagen Bridge, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaign. He left the Army in 1946 and was glad to return to Groom and resume the newspaper.Wade Obit (page 2)Max belonged to the First Baptist Church of Groom. He was a member of the Masons of Texas for over seventy years, and a charter member of the Groom Lions Club. Max loved Groom and the people. He was especially proud of the school system and always enjoyed his visits around town.Survivors include three daughters and their families: Maxine Anglin & Dr. James Anglin of Childress, Dr. Twila Wade of Bedford, and Kayla & Jim Cayer of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandchildren are MAJ Wade Anglin & wife Kelly of Houston, MAJ Travis Anglin & wife Kim of Canyon, Quanna Anglin of Fort Worth, and Dean Wade Kilmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Great-Grandchildren are Jacob Anglin and Joshua Anglin, both of Houston, and Sarah Anglin of Canyon. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Walter Vassey Wade, three sisters, Jessie McSpadden, Effie Johnson and Ruth Berggren, and one brother, Gene Wade.MEMORIALS: Groom Cemetery Association, P.O.
