SERVICES: 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2005, at the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, with Glen Walton, minister of the Bell Avenue Church of Christ of Amarillo, and Rodney Tedford, minister of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Fletcher was born December 22, 1931in Mangum, Oklahoma. After graduating from Pampa High school in 1950, she began a forty year newspaper career, seventeen years of which were as Publisher of the Pampa Daily News. She was the first female publisher of a newspaper in the State of Texas. During the course of her career, she received numerous other honors including Beta Sigma Phi Woman of the Year and induction into the North Texas Journalism Hall of Fame. She was active in the Salvation Army and Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ where she was a long-time member. Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Ernest, son Mark, daughter-in-law Rhonda and their two sons, Bradley and Jarrett, her beloved "Boys". Also surviving are her mother, Viola Louise Goodman, brothers Tommy of Mangum, Oklahoma, Edwin of Vernon, Texas and Jerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as numerous nephews and nieces to whom "Aunt Lou" was a consistent source of inspiration and encouragement. In lieu of flowers, relatives and friends are contributing to High Plains Children's' Home and Family Services, 11461 South Western Street, Amarillo, TX 79118 and Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, 1342 Mary Ellen, Pampa, TX 79065.
