SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Ernie & Suzie Wilkinson, deacons of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Ward was born August 8, 1930 in Lefors. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy and North Texas State University. After college, he served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he came back to Pampa and worked in the grocery business. He then founded his first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Pampa, and later opened five more in the surrounding area. He married Patsy Halpain in 1960. Mr. Ward confirmed his faith in God when he joined St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Pampa. He was a kind man with a gentle spirit and we know that he is graciously occupying his place in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Irene Ward, a brother Kerry Ward, a sister Mary Francis, and his stepson Jimmy Crocker.SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Stacy Sidwell & husband Reid of Amarillo. 2 Sons: Ched Ward of Birmingham, Alabama and Thad Ward of Palm Springs, California. 1 Brother: Jim Ward of Pampa. 2 Sisters: Betty Hoyler of Amarillo and Barbara Paschal of Bridgeport. 4 Grandchildren.
