SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Barry Loving, pastor, officiating.BURIAL: Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Holt was born October 24, 1939 in Pampa, to Margaret & Damaris Holt. He attended Pampa schools, graduating from Pampa High School in 1958. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and the University of Houston School of Law. In the spring of 1966, he was sworn in to practice law in Texas. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of Texas and the United States of America. He worked for J. E. Thompson until 1969 when he joined the law firm of Smith, Teed, Wade and Waters, where he was mentored by William Jarrel Smith. He practiced law with Bill Waters, and later Kenneth W. Fields, Leland W. Waters and Jeff Jones when they came into the firm. Over the years, the name evolved to Waters, Holt and Fields, and is presently Holt and Fields. He married Linda Skewes, his high school sweetheart, on June 3, 1961. His professional associations included the Gray County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas where he served on the Ethics Committee and as a director of the State Bar from 1996-1999. He was a Fellow of the State Bar of Texas. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver, Scouting's highest award. He served as director of the Adobe Walls and Golden Spread Boy Scouts Councils. He served on the board of directors of St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School, the Pampa Community Concert Association, and Pampa Meals on Wheels, where he was treasurer for many years. He was a member, deacon and elder of the First Christian Church. He was past treasurer and current president of the M. K. Brown Foundation, having accepted the Golden Nail Award on behalf of the foundation for its philanthropic work. He was a member of the Pampa Trap & Skeet Club, a life member of the Amarillo Gun Club, was a zone representative to the Texas State Trapshooter's Association, a life member of the America Trapshooting Association, a member of T.A.P.A., the Pampa Rifle and Pistol Club, the Texas State Rifle Association, and the National Rifle Association. A trap and skeet champion, he was active in the Pampa Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and spent many days in the field with friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Damaris Holt, and mother, Margaret Holt McClelland. SURVIVORS: Wife: Linda Holt of the home. His children: Parker Holt and Susanna Holt, both of Austin. 3 Sisters: Barbara Lallement of Amarillo, Linda Reed & husband Howard of Pampa, Frances Shryock & husband Kenneth of Reno, Nevada. Father-in-Law: A. W. Skewes of Pampa. Step-Father: Henry McClelland of Amarillo. Sister-in-Law: Ardyth Atkins & husband Jim of Tyler. Brother-in-Law: Blaine Skewes & wife Susan of El Dorado, Kansas.
