SERVICES: 4:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church, with John Curry, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: We are thankful for the life of Robert Atherton Keagy who was the son of Philip Donald & Martha Louise Hall Keagy. Bob was born December 31, 1919 in Independence, Iowa, and moved to Dallas as a young child. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He attended the Chicago Institute of Technology and L.S.U. He married Marilyn (Mike) McGuire on April 24, 1943. He and Mike moved to the Panhandle area in 1946 where Bob spent 35 years, working for Cabot Corp. He retired in 1982 as the Southwest Regional manager of oil and gas drilling and production. Upon his retirement, he chaired the Cabot Retirement Program, which made transportation available to those needing treatment at the cancer center or dialysis lab. He was a member of the Cabot & NOI Employees Credit Union where he was appointed to the board of directors in 1979. He served many years as an active board member and was elected as chairman of the board in 1991. Bob was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was active as a Boy Scout leader through the church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving as a naval officer during World War II. Bob loved his family and his many friends. Life was an adventure to him, and his philosophy was to live each day to the fullest. His adventure is finished and he is safely home. Well done, my good and faithful servant. SURVIVORS: Wife: Marilyn (Mike) Keagy of the home. 3 Daughters: Joan Keagy & husband Ernest Stokely of Birmingham, Alabama, Jean Fiedler of South Port, North Carolina, and Janet Gregory of Trophy Club, Texas. 1 Son: Jim Keagy & wife Connie of Albuquerque, New Mexico. 1 Sister: Margaret Stemmle. 1 Brother: Jack Keagy. 9 Grandchildren: Sara Nowak, Amy Fiedler, Dan Fiedler, Stephen White, Nathan White, David Keagy, Jane McKean, Meagan Gregory and Alan Gregory. He was also special "Papa" to Valerie, Michelle and Andrea Lee. 4 Great-Grandchildren: Mataya Fiedler, Julian Fiedler, Katherine Nowak and Alexander Nowak.
