SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with John Curry, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Hink was born March 4, 1921 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was reared in Wheeler County and was a 1940 graduate of Kelton High School. He briefly attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview. He joined the U. S. Navy in July of 1942. A veteran of World War II, he served as motor machinist mate on the USS LST 374, a transport ship that landed supplies and tanks. From July 1942 until December of 1945, he participated in invasions of Sicily, Italy, France, and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He married Betty Jones on February 24, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. He farmed in Wheeler County, and was employed by Cabot Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1979 as a warehouse foreman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, VFW Post #1657, U. S. LST Association, and the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. SURVIVORS: Wife: Betty Hink of the home. 1 Son: Jere David Hink of Pampa. 1 Grandson: Aaron Lee Hink of Pampa.
