SERVICES: 4:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Bayless was born July 15, 1925 in Roxton, Texas. She attended Pampa Schools, graduating from Pampa High School in 1943. She married Gordon Bayless on October 31, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She worked at Wilson Drug, was a bookkeeper for Pampa Hardware and Texas Furniture, and was a clerk for the Gray County District Clerk's office. She was a beloved Nana for Emily Nicklas and Taylor Ann Smith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. In earlier years, she was the YWMU director and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the B&PW Club, the B&PW Sunday School Class and the Sonshiner's Club. She moved to California five years ago to be near her family and was planning on moving back to Pampa this summer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a gifted quilter and seamstress. She will be truly missed by all, as she had an extraordinary gift of caring for everyone she loved and knew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kittie & Goldie Covington, 3 brothers, H. C. Covington, Norman Covington, Glen Covington, and 1 sister Kathryn.SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Gordon Bayless of Copenhagen, Denmark. 1 Daughter: Wanetta Hill & husband Richard of Pampa. 3 Sisters: Virginia Hall of Long Beach, California, Margaret Maguire of Hampton, Virginia, and Claudine Ware & husband Ed of Lake Havasu, Arizona. Her twin brother: Claude Covington & wife Joyce of Lake Elsinore, California. Sister-in-Law: Betty Covington of Laughlin, Nevada. 2 Grandsons: Richard Damian Hill of Phoenix, Arizona and Nathanael David Hill, a student at Texas A&M University in College Station. 1 Granddaughter: Megan Beth Hill, a chiropractic student at the University of Bridgeport at Bridgeport, Connecticut. 2 Step-Granddaughters: Kim Hoover and daughters Stephanie and Lauren of Washington, DC, and Kate Juengerman & husband Jim and children Leda, Grace and Quintin of Arlington. Numerous nieces & nephews, and extended family; Jeff, Connie & Emily Nicklas, and Stuart, Kristi & Taylor Ann Smith, all of Pampa, and David, Julie & Hannah Liedahl of Lakewood, California.
