SERVICES: Memorial graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2004, at the Higgins Cemetery in Higgins, with Gordon Lawson, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Word was born February 26, 1951 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Canadian and Higgins, graduating from Higgins High School in 1969. He had been a resident of Pampa most of his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving as a machinist. While in the Navy, he spent some time on Midway Island. He worked for Dale Johnson Autos for 4 years. He was a former cowboy, worked in the oil field, worked as a roofer, and worked for a cable company in Houston.SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Wendy Word of Pampa and Theresa Word of Vernon. Mother: Elsie Curry of Erick, Oklahoma. Wife: Georgia McClure of Pampa. 3 Step-Daughters: Krissy Dennis of Pampa, Shelly Smith of McLean, and Kim Reed of Bixby, Oklahoma. 1 Brother: David Word of Costa Mesa, California. 7 Step-Grandchildren, 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren.MEMORIALS: VA Medical Center, 6010 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
