DATELINE: PampaNAME: Richard Joshua Steele, the son of Richard and Jane Steele, the brother of Ellen Steele Wedemeyer and husband Drew Wedemeyer, died Saturday, September 4, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas.SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church with John Curry, officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Josh was born in Pampa, TX on January 20, 1974. He graduated from Pampa High School with honors in 1992. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Baylor University in December of 1996 and received his Master's Degree in History from West Texas A&M University in 2003. Josh was currently enrolled at St. Mary's University and working towards a doctorate in international studies and law when he died. While in high school he was a state and national competitor in Debate, and qualified for UIL national competition in foreign extemporaneous speaking his senior year. After completing his degree at Baylor he worked in marketing for companies in Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas and in New York, New York. He returned to the educational community to pursue teaching and consulting work in foreign affairs. His special interest was the establishment of a world court to arbitrate and prevent atrocities, such as cultural and ethnic genocide.He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Jack R. Howard and Aubrey L. Steele, both of Pampa. He is survived by his parents of the home, his sister and brother-in-law of Ft Worth, Texas, and two grandmothers, Margaret I. Steele of McLean and Leny F. Howard of Pampa. He is also survived by two aunts and one uncle, Jackie and Gene Hess of Littleton, Colorado, Linda Perry of San Antonio, Texas, and four cousins and their children.
