SERVICES: Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2004, at Memory Gardens West Mausoleum, with Rev. Barry Loving, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Military honors are by Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Sloan was born June 18, 1921 in Panhandle, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Pampa. He married Leona (Sid) Parkes on October 31, 1941 in Pampa. He owned and operated White's Auto Store in Portales, New Mexico for 10 years and later worked for the Montgomery Ward store in Pampa for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II where he attained the rank of Staff Sgt. SURVIVORS: Wife: Leona (Sid) Sloan of the home. 2 Brothers: Jack Sloan & wife Betty and Herndon Sloan & wife Timmie, all of Pampa. 2 Sisters: Margie Walters of Carrizo Springs, and Carol Harper & husband Bill of Amarillo. 3 Grandchildren: Shelley Barrett of Savannah, Georgia, Larry E. Sloan of Huntington Beach, California, and Tiffany Sloan of Corpus Christi. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Breanna Fletchall of Savannah, Georgia, Marzus Sloan of Corpus Christi, Rachel Sloan, Jake Sloan, and Cody Sloan, all of Huntington Beach, California. 1 Daughter-in-Law: Ellen Spurgeon & husband Bobby of Palm Harbor, Florida.
