Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BURIAL: Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade, Kansas, under the direction of Fidler-Orme Mortuary.Betty Maxine Riggins Neel departed this life on June 29, 2004 at her family residence at 1604 Holly Lane in Pampa, Texas, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 11 days. Betty was born April 18, 1930 in Beaver, Oklahoma, to Eddie Green Riggins and Lillie Verna Mari Haack Riggins. She was baptized, confirmed and received into communicant membership with St. John's Lutheran Church of Meade, Kansas, on July 8, 1951, by the Rev. Homer H. Kurth. Betty was joined in marriage to Lloyd L. Neel on March 4, 1950 in Meade, Kansas at the St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Homer H. Kurth. To this union they were blessed with two loving children, Terence L. and Eddie K. Neel. The couple established their first home in Meade and then later moved to Laverne, Woodward, and eventually to their current home in Pampa where they have been faithful members of the Zion Lutheran Church. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Green Riggins, and her mother Lillie Verna Mari Haack Riggins, of Knowles, Oklahoma; her brother Oscar Edward Riggins of Lubbock; her brothers-in-law Lloyd Eugene (Gene) Anderson of McAllen, Harry R. Hoover of Derby, Kansas, and Bradford D. Neel, Sr., of Meade, Kansas; and her sister-in-law Nelda Mae Edmondson Neel of Meade, Kansas.Betty is survived by her husband Lloyd L. Neel of the home; her sons Terence L. Neel and wife Gisel of Farmington, New Mexico, and Eddie K. Neel and wife Veronica of Katy; her sisters Eva Bell Riggins Van Horn and husband Charles of Dalton, Pennsylvania, Pauline Marie Riggins Anderson of McAllen, Emma Eileen Riggins Hoover of Derby, Kansas; and her sister-in-law Donna Lee Holmes and husband Clifford C. of Andrews; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.MEMORIALS: Zion Lutheran Church, 1200 Duncan St., Pampa, Texas 79065.
