SERVICES: 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Glen Walton, minister of the Bell Ave. Church of Christ of Amarillo, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Walters was born October 24, 1917 at Centerville, Texas. She received her bachelor's degree from West Texas State University, and her master's degree from the University of Colorado. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1948. She was a schoolteacher and counselor with the Goodnight, Borger and Pampa Independent School Districts for 50 years. She was a member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, the Texas State Teachers Association, the Retired Teachers Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Panhandle Mental Health Association.SURVIVORS: 3 Nephews: Nick Leaverton of Chandler, Bert Lee Leaverton of Knox City, and Jerry Leaverton of Henrietta. 1 Sister-in-Law: Lou Leaverton of Knox City. 2 Special Friends: Lodema Mitchell and Willie Mae Mangold, both of Pampa. Numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. Walters, and 3 brothers, Joe B.
