SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Richard Bartel, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Opal O. Mananay of the Meredith House in Pampa, passed away in her room at Odyssey Hospice of Amarillo, with her daughter, Katie Gunter and son Dan Mahanay at her side. Mrs. Mahanay was born September 18, 1920 in Honey Grove, Texas, to George A. & Lona Mae Bynum. She spent her early years in Childress, until moving to Pampa in the late 1930's where she met Daniel Benjamin Mahanay. They were married December 19, 1942 in Denver, Colorado, where Daniel was stationed at Buckley Field. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. & Lona Mae Bynum, her husband, Daniel Benjamin, four sisters, Corine Bynum of Direct, Texas, Veola Jones of San Diego, California, Aurillian Cates of Childress, Texas, and Lorene Johns of Artesia, New Mexico, and two brothers, Nolan R. Bynum of Palestine, Texas, and Vibert O. Bynum of Texas. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Danny Lee Mahanay and Wiley Michael Mahanay, both of Pampa. 1 Daughter: Lona Kathleen (Katie) Mahanay Gunter of Garland. 2 Grandsons: Jeremy Andrew Gunter and John Daniel Gunter, both of Garland. 3 Sisters: Ira Haugen, Mildred Komaroski, and Arell Brookoff, all of California.
