SERVICES: 10:00 AM Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Albert Maggard, pastor of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiating.BURIAL: Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Silent Home Cemetery in Durham, Oklahoma under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Davis was born on Nov. 17, 1917 at Arden, Missouri to Austin and Maude Davis. He was reared in Durham, Oklahoma and spent most of his life in California. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator. In June of 1979, he moved to Pampa and worked for B & B Solvent for 6 years. He married Joyce Robinson on Dec. 2, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ray loved spending time at his farm in Oklahoma. He was an avid rodeo fan and loved animals, especially horses. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in the Philippines. "He was a common soldier and his ranks are growing thin, but his passing should remind us we might need his likes again." He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Davis, in 1968 and his father, Austin Davis, in 1993.SURVIVORS: Wife: Joyce Davis of the home; 1 sister: Norma Gene Selby and husband, Nelson, of Clinton, Oklahoma; 2 nephews: Jackie Selby and wife Carolyn of Pampa and Roy Selby and wife Bonnie of Borger; 2 nieces: Reta Hall and husband Eugene of Clinton, Oklahoma and Reba Kay Helms and husband Steve of North Carolina; numerous great nephews and nieces, great great nephews and nieces, and many wonderful friends.SPECIAL NOTICE: The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Pampa Nursing Center for their excellent care and compassion.
