SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the First Christian Church in Port Arthur, with Rev. Tom Cody, brother-in-law, officiating. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2004, at the First Christian Church in Pampa, with Rev. Barry Loving, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Rev. Evans was born October 25, 1940 in Donna, Texas. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.A. and a B.S. degree and received a masters of divinity degree from Brite Divinity School at TCU. He was ordained as a pastor in the First Christian Church in Port Arthur. He served churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, and served First Christian Church in Pampa, First Christian Church in Miami, and First Christian Church in Amarillo. He served as a chaplain and board member of Hospice of the Panhandle in Pampa. He was a former chaplain of the Pampa Regional Medical Center, and was a member of the Pampa Ministerial Alliance.SURVIVORS: Wife: Billie Sue Evans of the home. 2 Sons: Dr. James Evans, wife Emily and granddaughter Ellie, all of Austin; Erik Evans, wife Beth and grandson Jonah, all of Bellingham, Washington. 1 Daughter: Leigh Malloch, husband Scott and grandchildren Ansley, Colin, and Andrew Malloch, all of Chappell Hill, Texas. Mother & Father: Ruth & Fred Day of Port Arthur. 1 Sister: Lucy Cody and husband Tom of Shreveport, Louisiana. Sister-in-Law: Bonnie Evans of Torrance, California. Mother-in-Law & Father-in-Law: Vivian & Emil Methvin of Silsbee, Texas. Sister-in-Law: Judy Lanclos and husband Dr. Kenneth Lanclos of Augusta, Georgia. Brother-in-Law: George Methvin and wife Marie of Asheville, North Carolina. Nieces & Nephews: Melissa and Charlie Cook of LaPorte, Texas, Jeff and Shelley Cody of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his former wife Kathy Dunagan of Austin. MEMORIALS: First Christian Church (which will be designated to The Christian Church Benevolent Fund for retired ministers), 1633 N. Nelson, Pampa, Texas 79065.
