SERVICES: 10:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2003, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Robin Gantz, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarendon, officiating.BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Massengale was born January 4, 1908 in Bell County, Texas, and came to Pampa that same year. She was a graduate of Miami High School and attended West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon. She was the first student and the last teacher at the "Little Red Schoolhouse" north of Pampa. She married Joe Massengale on December 21, 1935 in Pampa. He preceded her in death in 1986. She and her husband owned and operated Hoover Mercantile and the Post Office in Hoover. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Wayside Club.SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Nita Tomlinson & husband Mart of Marble Falls. 1 Granddaughter: Cara Tomlinson of Austin. 2 Sisters: Minnie Olive Jackson and Roberta Pugh, both of Pampa.
