SERVICES: 10:00 AM Monday, September 8, 2003. at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.BURIAL: Groom Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Franklin was born August 22, 1914 in Groom, and was a 1932 graduate of Groom High School. He married Mae Louise Lewis on March 12, 1936 in Groom. He worked for Dorchester Gas Co. for 35 years, retiring as chief operator in 1978. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pampa and was a former member of the White Deer United Methodist Church where he taught intermediate Sunday School classes for several years. He was a former member of the White Deer Lions Club and former member of the White Deer Masonic Lodge. He was an active volunteer in Boy Scouts. SURVIVORS: Wife: Mae Louise Franklin of the home. 1 Daughter: Sue Young & husband Allen of Lubbock. 3 Sons: Darrel K. Franklin & wife Ann, and Jerry D. Franklin & wife Robyn, all of Pampa, and David O. Franklin & wife Patricia of Amarillo. 2 Sisters: Virginia Vance of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Cleo Nix of Groom. 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Larry Ross Franklin, a grandson Johnny Bruce Young, 2 brothers Perry Franklin & Willard Franklin, and 2 sisters, Irene Smith & Hazel Butler.MEMORIALS: BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, Texas 79065, First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1981, Pampa, Texas 79066-1981, or a favorite charity.SPECIAL NOTICE: The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2003, at the funeral home.
