He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He had been a resident of the Texas Panhandle most of his life. He retired from Miller Distributing and later worked for USA Today. He was a former alderman of Howardwick. He was a member of the Clarendon VFW Post and was a Baptist.SURVIVORS: 1 son: Robert L. Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada; 3 stepsons: Bill McPherson of Fairborn, OH, Jimmy McPherson of Elk City, OK and John McPherson of Lake Palestine; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
