SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2003, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Dan Chaney, Central Church of Christ minister, and Billy Dale Meadows, Church of Christ minister, officiating.<br>Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. <br><br>BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Smithers was born December 25, 1922 in Girard, Texas. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1922, graduating from Pampa High School. She married N. B. (Rod) Smithers on August 29, 1942 in Pampa. He preceded her in death in 1996. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator for 34 ½ years. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.<br><br>SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter & Son-in-Law: Kay & Darryl Hughes of Pampa. 2 Grandchildren: Ryan Hughes and Andrea Hughes, both of Pampa. 1 Brother: A. P. Coombes. She was preceded in death by her parents, K. & Rosa Coombes, and 2 brothers, H. T. Coombes and L. J. Coombes.
