Norman Rushing, pastor of First Baptist Church of Childress, and Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating.<br><br>BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.<br><br>BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Gates was born on Nov. 1, 1918 in Colbert, Oklahoma to William and Mimia Gooding. She was reared in Quanah, Texas, graduating from Quanah High School in 1937. She graduated from Draughn's Business School in Wichita Falls in 1940 and moved to Pampa in 1941. She married Gene Gates on April 23, 1943, and they were married for over 55 years until his death on Jan. 7, 1999. She and her husband owned and operated One-Hour Martinizing from 1960 until 1988. She moved to Woodward in 2002 to be near her daughter. She was an active member of the Central Baptist Church for nearly 60 years. She belonged to a knitting class and had many hobbies.<br><br>SURVIVORS: A daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Ken Miller of Woodward, OK; 4 sisters: Hob Hamrick of Denton; Nancy Barbee of Rogers, Arkansas; Melveta Barnes of Quanah; and Frances Lam of Pampa; 2 grandchildren: Melissa DonCarlos and husband Bryan of Woodward, OK and Kelly Miller and wife Lana of Pampa; 4 great grandchildren: Mattie DonCarlos of Woodward, OK; and Krysten Miller, Courtney Ward, and Cashion Miller, all of Pampa. She was preceded in death by her parents and by 2 brothers, Bill and Everett Gooding.<br><br>MEMORIALS: Central Baptist Church, 513 E.
