He married Elma Parker on March 30, 1941 in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He was a State Farm insurance agent, which he began in April of 1947, retiring on October 31, 1990 after 43 years of service. He was a machinist with Cabot Corporation, and was an Army engineer during World War II. He was a member and deacon of the Central Church of Christ. He was a member of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Pampa Kiwanis Club. SURVIVORS: Wife: Elma of the home. 1 Daughter: Judy Havenhill of Atlanta, Georgia. 2 Sons: Monty Gordon of Princeton, Texas, and Ronald Gordon of Amarillo. 1 Sister: Geneva Bland of Hobart, Oklahoma. 3 Brothers: Stanley Gordon of Wichita, Kansas, Melvin Gordon of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Bill Gordon of Lindsay, Oklahoma. 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren.
