He was employed as an auto salesman for a number of years by Pursley Motor Co. of Pampa and was an independent trucker. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Carlton, his mother, Eunice Bates Carlton, 3 wives, Oleta Daughetee Carlton, Edna May Daughetee Carlton, and Clovis Mozell Carlton, 4 sisters, Julia Jost, Willie McKay, Mary Mann and Jewel Felisha Carlton, and by 1 brother, Roy Bates Carlton.SURVIVORS: 2 sons: Aubrey Joe Carlton of Pampa and Daniel Gist Carlton of Plano; 1 daughter: Margaret Ann Carlton Welton of Jefferson City, TN; 1 sister: Grace Mildred Roller of El Paso; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.MEMORIALS: High Plains Children's Home, Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-9990.
