SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Childress, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Long was born April 2, 1930 in Pampa, where he had been a lifelong resident. He attended Pampa schools, and was a graduate of Pampa High School. He married Twyla Cook on October 11, 1947 in Skellytown. He was a drilling consultant for Gulf Oil and Chevron for many years, before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Top O' Texas Masonic Lodge #1381 AF & AM, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War IISURVIVORS: Wife: Twyla of the home. Daughter & Son-in-Law: Pama & Stan Miller of Pampa. Mother: Verna Long of Pampa. 2 Sisters: Mary Seedig of Pampa and Sue Butler of Midland. 1 Brother: Roger Long of Portland, Oregon. 4 Grandchildren: Amanda Soukup & husband Dave of Lubbock, Jesaka Long of Washington, Justin Long of Pampa, and Laura Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma. 1 Great-Granddaughter: Bailey Soukup of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Paul Long and Phillip Long.
