Merl Smith

Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Blanconia Baptist Church, west of Refugio. Burial will be in Blanconia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rosewood Chapel of Victoria.Merl Smith, a former longtime Pampa resident, was born December 12, 1936 in Divot, Texas, and graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1955. He married Jerry Pipkin on May 28th, 1961 in Wichita Falls. They moved to Pampa in 1962. Merl worked for Motor Inn Auto Supply that became 100,000 / Car Quest Auto Parts and managed that store for several years. He and his wife moved to Refugio in 2005. Merl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jerry, two sons, Rick and family of Whitney, Phillip and family of Cordell, OK, seven grandchildren, Lindsay Smith of Dallas, Jordan Smith of Granbury, McKenzie Ainsworth and Taylor Smith both of Weatherford, OK, Lauren Smith of Lubbock, Alex Smith of San Marcos, and Samantha Smith of Whitney; and by 4 great-grandchildren.
